Member* Rates

  • Early bird (ends February 10, 11:59 p.m. ET): $295
  • Regular (starting February 11): $395
  • Late (starting April 1): $495
  • Single day: $200

*Members of AAJA, IJA, Military Veterans in Journalism, NABJ, NAHJ, NLGJA, SAJA, Trans Journalists Association and/or The Uproot Project are eligible for SEJ member pricing. Before you register, please complete this form to receive the discount code.

Student Rates

Must be a Student SEJ Member. First year membership dues of $25 will be waived if you apply for membership and register for the conference at the same time. If you are not yet a student member of SEJ, please complete this form to receive the discount code and instructions before you register.

  • Regular: $75
  • Single day: $25

Non-Member Rates

Fees are based on the annual budget of the paying organization.

Under $2 million annual budget:

  • Early Bird (ends February 10, 11:59 p.m. ET): $700
  • Regular (starting February 11): $850
  • Late (starting April 1): $1000
  • Single Day: $500

Over $2 million annual budget:

  • Early Bird (ends February 10, 11:59 p.m. ET): $1000
  • Regular (starting February 11): $1200
  • Late (starting April 1): $1450
  • Single Day: $700

Exhibitors

One basic conference registration is included, providing access to conference events and meals (ticketed events extra). Add one more basic registration at a discounted price of $750. (SEJ and Uproot members exhibiting can register at the member rate and speaker/exhibitors at the speaker rate). Questions about exhibiting? Contact Robert Brumfield at rbrumfield@sej.org.

Guests

SEJ members are welcome to bring a guest to the Saturday Dinner Party ($35). Email sej@sej.org to purchase their ticket(s). Guests attending only this ticketed event are required to complete this form in advance of the conference.

SEJ member guests (one spouse, partner, child or nonmember who qualifies for SEJ membership) can register for the full conference or a single day at the member rate. To do so, the SEJ member should contact sej@sej.org to request a discount code for their guest, which can be used when they register via the regular registration form.

NOTE:

All registrations include most sessions and receptions, unless otherwise indicated marked on the agenda descriptions. These include Wednesday workshops, Thursday tours and Saturday’s closing party.

Join SEJ for a discounted conference rate

Those wishing to apply for membership must complete their application before registering. They will also need to pay the discounted first-year membership fee at registration.

  • Standard: $40 ($70 thereafter)
  • Low-to-Mid Income Countries per World Bank rankings
  • Student: $25 ($40 thereafter)

ACCESSIBILITY ASSISTANCE

To ask questions about accessibility or request accommodations (e.g., mobility assistance, sign language interpreters, alternative formats), please email sej@sej.org. At least three weeks’ advance notice will help us to provide seamless access.


SPECIAL-DIET MEALS

Please be aware that if you register after March 10, it’s likely that special-diet meals such as Kosher, Halal and Celiac will not be available. Requests for gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, nut free, etc., can be accommodated after this date.

All catering is arranged in advance, with final catering numbers given to the hotel at least seven days before the event so the hotel can order the necessary food. We always order extra special-diet meals, but these are given out on a first-come first-served basis. If you have severe restrictions and are registering after March 10, please email sej@sej.org.

SEJ will make every effort to accommodate special dietary needs. However, we can’t guarantee that your needs will be met for every meal. Please approach all meals with your usual caution.


CANCELLATION POLICY

If you cancel your registration in writing to sej@sej.org by April 2, you’ll receive a full refund. After April 2, you’ll receive 50% back until April 8. No refunds after April 8 (unless COVID-related/within 10 days of the conference; see below). No attendee substitutions can be made. Nonattendance does not constitute cancellation. Attendees who fail to abide by SEJ’s COVID-19 Protocols will not be eligible for a refund. If you receive a positive COVID-19 test within 10 days of the conference, you should not attend #SEJ2025 and a full refund will be provided. Please email sej@sej.org.
